The Chicago Blackhawks Reading Program Kicks Off With A School Visit From Alumnus Player

For the second year, the Chicago Blackhawks and Dover have launched The Chicago Blackhawks Reading Program. To signify the start of this year’s program, Brian Campbell, Blackhawks alumnus and current Business & Hockey Operations Liaison, visited fourth-graders at Disney II Magnet Elementary School in Old Irving Park.

Campbell read “The Magic Hockey Stick” to students, and answered questions, including “What’s your favorite game that you’ve played?” and “Are you still in contact with Coach Q?”

The program runs from September through February and helps students get excited to read throughout the season. Teachers will collect their students' reading logs and add up the number of pages read. Each month, teachers will submit their classroom's total pages read and a top reader of the month online. Top monthly readers will be featured on the Blackhawks website and become eligible to win prizes. The classroom with the most pages read at the end of February will win a visit from a Blackhawks player!
