Dover teamed up with Chicago Cares, a volunteer facilitation and community growth organization, in a day of service to complete over 100 service hours at Ella Flagg Young, a public elementary school in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.
Dover volunteers constructed planter boxes, organized classrooms and created tile mosaics to help the school continue to provide a supportive and enriching learning atmosphere for students.
Throughout the day, Dover volunteers were joined by Ella Flagg Young’s summer school participants. Students engaged with the Dover team members and helped complete the tile mosaics.
Dover’s project also included discussions with community residents and leaders to better understand the strengths and needs of the community. This included leaders from Austin Coming Together (ACT), an organization committed to building a thriving Austin community. Dover’s day of service helped contribute to ACT’s mission through fostering quality early learning for the future academic and economic success of Austin children.
