The OPW Makers' Meet is an annual competition among OPW employees who team up to identify a customer challenge and propose a new, breakthrough product or process to solve that challenge. The new ideas can either address needs within OPW's current markets or its adjacent markets. The entries are judged by a global panel of cross-functional leaders who review all submissions. The top two selections by the panel of judges, plus an "Employees' Choice" selection are then reviewed by the leadership team who determines the final winner.
As part of the prize package, the 2017 OPW Makers' Meet winners, Team FibreVolt, selected one non-profit to receive a charitable contribution. The winning team members Bryan Clever, Matt Lauber, Mike Schubert and Hugues Seumo selected the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to receive its $2,500 OPW donation. The Dover Foundation then matched OPW's gift for a grand total of $5,000 presented to the organization.
